Assistant-Professor in Private Law

Nina Zhvania is enrolled in PhD Program of the New Vision University. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Law from the Tbilisi State University (Georgia), as well as LL.M in Business Law (2011) from London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE, UK). Nina was elected as an Assistant Professor at the TSU in 2009 - 2012; in this period she, as an Invited Lecturer, conducted classes in Tort Law and Introduction to Civil Law at the University of Georgia. Nina Zhvania has an extensive experience of working in public sector, holding various managerial positions: Deputy Head of Legal Department at the Ministry of Economic Development of Georgia (2008-2009), Deputy Head of Legal Department at the Administration of the President of Georgia (2009), Head of Legal Department at the National Centre for Educational Accreditation (NCEA, 2010). Currently, she is a Vice-president Legal at an international company - Petrocas Energy Group involved in trading, retail and transportation of oil products.

Holds law and LL.M degrees from the Tbilisi State University (Georgia); Won scholarship from French government and studied Master 1 – Private Law at the Strasbourg Robert Schuman University (2007-2008); has work experience both in the private and public sectors; worked for several private companies (2008-2009), for the National Centre for Educational Accreditation (NCEA, 2009-2010), National Centre for Educational Quality Enhancement (NCEQE, 2010-2011), National Defence Academy (2011-2012) and the Tbilisi State University (2012); has been working at the Ministry of Justice of Georgia since January 2013 as the Deputy Head of Administration (department); Is taking her PhD course at the Tbilisi State University, where she leads work groups in the field of private law.

Is ADR advisor for USAID-funded Judicial Independence and Legal Empowerment Project (JILEP) implemented by the East-West Management Institute; Prior to joining JILEP worked for an international oil trading company where her work was related to international sales and transshipment transactions; has obtained her Law degree from the Tbilisi State University and holds an LL.M. in International Business Law from the Central European University (Budapest, Hungary); Has been a visiting lecturer at the Tbilisi State University and a coach of the Tbilisi State University team for Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot since 2006; Is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, IBA Arbitration Subcommittee, International Council for Commercial Arbitration, an advisory member of Young ICCA, YIAG, ICC YAF and other professional associations.

Holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Law from the Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (Georgia) and a Master of Arts degree in Global Affairs and Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management (USA); Currently is a PhD student at New Vision University; Her teaching practice covers several private law and business courses at the Tbilisi State University and the University of Georgia; Her working experience includes scientific research and development at the Law Faculty of the Tbilisi State University and several managerial positions at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia; Presently, is the Deputy Chairman at the National Agency of State Property, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
