DESCnet Winter School on European Integration 

 

The North Caucasus Federal University as partner of the Jean Monnet Network Developing European Studies in the Caucasus (DESCnet) is organizing the first Winter School in a series of Jean Monnet Network activities. The Winter School 2016 is devoted to the topic European Integration and the Future of Civil Society in the Caucasus.

 

The Winter School is the first in a series of events offered by the Jean Monnet Network DESCnet. The DESCnet consortium comprises leading universities of the wider Caucasus area. 

The Network for Developing the European Studies in Caucasus (DESCNet) is designed to enhance the level of European Studies in the Caucasus. At its heart the goal is to create a scholarly association “Association of European Studies for the Caucasus”, AESC. In a long run, AESC will be a leading EU thematic association that not only run by local academic circles but also flexibly accommodates to the region’s developments depending on the activities of its members. AESC commits itself to synergize the efforts of its partner institutions and create a benchmark for excellence.

  • North Caucasus Federal University, Russia


The local partner to host the Winter School 2016 is the North Caucasus Federal University in Stavropol with its branch in Pyatigorsk. 

 

Interested candidates should send their CV and an essay (maximum 2 pages) until 7 February 2016 to the DESCnet coordinator, Ms. Olga Bogdanova, of the University of Tartu (Estonia): olga.bogdanova@ut.ee. Your essay should demonstrate argumentation and analytical skill on the topic »The role civil society should play in the countries of the Caucasus is…« where you argue your case.
